About hi-vis clothing
The class states how much fluorescent area and reflective tape the garment has, and the risk assessment and the client decide which class is required. Class 3 is often achieved by jacket and trousers together as a certified combination. There are also lined hi-vis garments for the winter and hi-vis garments with flame protection. The logo is placed so that the class is preserved, which we check in the proof. Prices are shown excl. VAT, and contract customers see their prices when they log in.
Frequently asked questions about hi-vis clothing
Which hi-vis class do we need?
The risk assessment and the client's requirements decide. Low speed and low risk give class 1, construction sites and traffic at lower speeds often class 2, road works class 3. The guide on hi-vis clothing explains the classes in EN ISO 20471.
Are hi-vis and high visibility clothing the same thing?
Yes. Hi-vis is the short English term for high visibility clothing, called varselkläder in Swedish. In Europe they are tested according to EN ISO 20471, and the class is stated on the garment's label and on the product page when the manufacturer has specified it.
How do we reach hi-vis class 3?
Class 3 requires the most fluorescent area and reflective tape, and a garment that covers the upper body and has sleeves or long legs with reflective bands. A vest without sleeves reaches at most class 2. Class 3 is often achieved with jacket and trousers together as a certified combination.
How many washes can hi-vis clothing withstand?
If the garment has been tested after a certain number of washes, the maximum number is stated on the label according to EN ISO 20471. Replace the garment when the colour has faded, the reflective tape is damaged or the number of washes has been reached, since the visibility then no longer corresponds to the class.
Can hi-vis clothing be marked with a logo?
Yes, within what the class allows. The decoration must not cover so much fluorescent area that the garment loses its class, and certified transfer is used on reflective tape.
